DecorLens
Effective 17 September 2026 · Last updated 13 October 2026
The short version. DecorLens shows you an estimate of how big things are and how they might look in your room. It is a visual aid, not a measuring instrument — never buy, cut, drill or build based on a number it gives you without checking with a tape measure. Readings may come out higher or lower than the real dimension, that is normal, and you use them at your own risk — we accept no liability and pay no compensation for anything that follows from one. Measuring and the shape tools are free. Room Planner gives you a short free trial and then needs a subscription, which you buy, manage and cancel through Google Play. If we see activity that looks like an attempt to get around the trial or to interfere with the service, we may suspend or close the account without notice.
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) cover the DecorLens Android application (“DecorLens” or “the app”), the ardecorlens.com website, and the servers the app talks to — together, “the Service”.
By installing, opening or using DecorLens, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use the Service, and uninstall the app.
Our Privacy Policy explains what data we handle and is part of these Terms by reference.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use one copy of DecorLens on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use.
The app is licensed, not sold. We keep all rights we do not expressly grant you here.
This is the most important clause in this document, so it is not buried. DecorLens estimates distances and sizes from your phone's camera and motion sensors using Google's ARCore. Every reading it gives you may be higher or lower than the true dimension. How much it varies depends on lighting, reflective or featureless surfaces, how steadily you move, how well your device is calibrated, the device itself, and the limits of the technology — none of which are within our control. A reading being somewhat out is normal and expected behaviour, not a fault in the app.
Every number, outline, cut-out and placed object the app shows you is an approximation, offered for visual and planning purposes only. It is not a survey, not a professional measurement, not a certified figure, and not a statement that any item will fit. No level of accuracy is promised, claimed or guaranteed, and none should be assumed.
If accuracy matters to you, use a tape measure. Check every figure with a physical measuring tool before you rely on it — before buying furniture, ordering or cutting materials, drilling, fixing anything to a wall, or making any decision that costs money or cannot be undone. Where precision is required, use a proper measuring instrument or engage a professional; DecorLens is not a substitute for either.
You use the app, and every figure it produces, entirely at your own risk, and you accept all of that risk yourself. If you choose to act on a reading without checking it, that choice and its consequences are yours alone. We accept no responsibility and no liability of any kind for it, in any circumstance — see section 15.
Similarly, a cut-out standing in your room is a visual impression. Colour, finish, scale and how an object sits against your floor or wall are all approximations, and what arrives from a shop may look different.
We have deliberately made it cost nothing to satisfy yourself about the app before you rely on it — or pay for it.
By using DecorLens you acknowledge and agree that:
If you are not willing to accept that risk, do not use DecorLens. Continuing to use it is your acceptance of it.
DecorLens asks you to move around while looking at a screen. Stay aware of what is physically around you. Do not use the app while driving, on stairs, near traffic, near drops, near water, or anywhere that walking while distracted could hurt you or someone else. You are responsible for your own safety and for any damage or injury caused while using the app.
Room Planner — placing a cut-out of a real object in your room in augmented reality — includes a limited free trial, granted once per account. The app tells you what the trial is and how much of it remains before you spend any of it.
| What spends the trial | What does not |
|---|---|
| Entering the augmented-reality view in Room Planner spends one free visit. Placing an item during that visit counts against the item limit for that visit. | Choosing a photo and building a cut-out is free and unlimited. Measuring and the shape tools are free and need no account at all. |
| A placement is spent once made. Deleting an item you have placed does not return it — otherwise the trial would have no limit. | Discarding a cut-out you queued but never placed releases its slot, because nothing was placed. |
The trial is counted on our servers, against your account, not on your phone — so reinstalling the app, clearing its data, using a different device, or deleting your account and signing in again with the same Google account does not reset it. The size of the trial, and whether one is offered at all, may be changed at any time for accounts created afterwards.
Buying a subscription ends the trial. Any unused free visits are cleared when a subscription starts, because the subscription supersedes them. They do not return if you later cancel.
Continued use of Room Planner's augmented-reality placement requires a paid subscription. Subscriptions are sold, billed and managed by Google Play — not by us. The price, the currency, the billing period and any taxes are shown to you by Google Play before you confirm, and that is the authoritative price. Your purchase is also subject to Google Play's own terms of service.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, and Google charges your Play payment method, until you cancel. We may change the subscription price; where that affects an existing subscription, Google will notify you and ask for your agreement in line with its own rules, and you may cancel rather than accept.
Cancel through Google Play — in the Play Store app, under Payments and subscriptions ▸ Subscriptions, or at play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription. Deleting your DecorLens account does — in the app, or at ardecorlens.com/delete-account.html: it cancels the subscription's renewal through Google Play, exactly as if you had cancelled it there yourself. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for, and we do not pro-rate a partial period.
We cannot issue refunds, because we never take your payment — Google does. Refund requests go to Google Play and are decided under Google's refund policy and the consumer law that applies to you. Where we choose to support a request we may do so at our discretion, but we are under no obligation to, and we will not do so for an account closed under section 10.
You agree not to do any of the following, and not to help or permit anyone else to:
We may suspend or permanently close your account, and withdraw your access to the Service, immediately and without prior notice, if we reasonably believe that you have broken these Terms, that your account is being used in a way that is fraudulent, abusive or unusual, that continuing to serve your account puts the Service, other users or us at risk, or that we are required to act by law.
“Unusual activity” includes, without limiting the general words above: patterns consistent with multiple accounts held by one person; request patterns that could not come from ordinary use of the app; entitlement, trial or purchase state that does not match our records; use of a tampered or automated client; repeated chargebacks or payment reversals; and any attempt to conceal any of these.
We decide this at our sole and reasonable discretion, and we may act on a suspicion without proving it to you first. Where we can do so without frustrating the detection or prevention of abuse, we will tell you what happened, and you may write to support.ardecorlens@gmail.com to ask us to look again. We will consider what you send us in good faith. We are not obliged to disclose our detection methods.
What closure means: access to paid features stops, any free trial remaining is forfeited, and any cut-outs or settings held on your device become unusable with the Service. Where an account is closed for breach of these Terms, we will not support a refund request for the unused part of a subscription, to the extent the law allows us to withhold it — and you remain responsible for cancelling the subscription itself through Google Play.
You may end this agreement at any time by cancelling any subscription through Google Play, uninstalling the app, and — if you want your account data removed — following the account deletion instructions.
Sections 4, 5, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 17 survive the end of this agreement, however it ends.
The photographs you bring into DecorLens, and the cut-outs made from them, are yours and stay on your device — we do not upload them and we hold no copy, as the Privacy Policy describes. We claim no ownership of them.
You confirm that you have the right to use every image you bring into the app, and you accept responsibility for it. Because that content never reaches us, we cannot review, moderate, recover or restore it — including after a device is lost, reset, or the app uninstalled.
DecorLens, its name, logo, interface, artwork, text and underlying software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property law. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of that to you beyond the licence in section 3. Third-party components, including Google's ARCore and Play services, remain the property of their owners and are governed by their own terms.
If you send us feedback, ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely and without obligation to you — no payment, no attribution, no confidentiality.
The Service is provided on an “as available” basis. We do not promise any particular level of uptime. We may, at any time and without liability to you:
Some features need an internet connection, a supported ARCore device, a granted camera permission and a current version of the app. We do not guarantee that the app will work on every device, on older versions of Android, or after an operating-system update we have not yet supported.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty arising from course of dealing or usage of trade.
In particular, and without limiting section 4, we do not warrant that any measurement, dimension, scale or placement shown by the app is accurate, nor that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free, or free of data loss.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable to you for any loss, damage, cost or expense of any kind, of any amount, arising out of or connected with the Service — and we will not pay you any sum in respect of it.
Your sole and exclusive remedy, if you are dissatisfied with the Service for any reason whatsoever — including the accuracy of anything it shows you — is to stop using it and to cancel any subscription through Google Play. That is the only remedy available to you, and you accept it as adequate.
This applies, without limitation, to:
This section applies to every theory of liability — contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, statute, restitution or otherwise — whether the claim is brought by you or by anyone claiming through you, and it applies equally to our owners, employees, contractors, suppliers and licensors. It is a fundamental part of this agreement and of the price at which the Service is offered: we could not make DecorLens available on these terms without it, and you accept it in exchange for that access. It survives any termination of this agreement.
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss, liability, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, content you brought into the app that you did not have the right to use, or your violation of any law or of anyone else's rights.
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts at Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of them — except that, if you are a consumer, nothing here deprives you of the protection of the mandatory law, or the right to bring proceedings in the courts, of the country where you live.
You agree to write to us at support.ardecorlens@gmail.com and give us 30 days to resolve the matter before commencing any proceedings, setting out what happened and what you want. Most problems are faster to fix that way, and this step is a condition of these Terms.
Any claim arising out of or connected with the Service must be brought within six (6) months of the event it is based on. After that it is permanently barred, to the fullest extent the law allows a contract to set such a limit.
Any claim must be brought by you individually, in your own name. You may not bring a claim as a class, group, representative, collective or consolidated action, and you may not join your claim to anyone else's.
We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and for a change that materially affects your rights or what you pay, we will give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the Service and cancel any subscription through Google Play.
